Disappointment over possible lifting of “seats for sale” restriction.
Belfast Airport currently cannot sell more than two million seats from the airport in a year.
This restriction is crucial to ensure that most of the planes using the airport are small and medium-size planes.
Presently the Environment Minister Edwin Poots has said he may lift the “seats for sale” restriction at George Best Belfast City Airport.
The minister has announced an eight-week consultation period for the proposal also stating that the airport’s permitted operating hours would not be affected if the restriction is eased.
Liz Fawcett of Belfast City Airport Watch felt that the removal of this restriction would permit many more of the existing large planes to wreak further misery on residents.
Mr. Poots said a decision had not been made but would carefully consider the consultation responses before doing so.
